Welcome to Dive Munda!
We are based in the tiny village of Munda, Solomon Islands. Munda is located on the southern coast of New Georgia Island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, renowned for its peaceful beauty and friendly people.
Dive Munda is a small operation owned by two experienced British instructors with great local staff. We offer incredible diving paired with highly personalized service. Whether you have never dived before or you have already logged thousands of dives, we plan your diving around you. As a PADI Dive Centre, we offer courses from entry level to professional, as well as a great choice of specialty courses. We are keen photographers and videographers and are happy to offer underwater digital imaging services (courses, editing, downloading….etc). Naturally we have a full line of well-maintained rental equipment and our custom dive boats are equipped with oxygen and other first aid.
The diving in Munda is phenomenal - possibly some of the best in the World. We have spectacular walls, dropping off to over 600 meters and teeming with real big fish action. Grey, Blacktip and Whitetip Reef sharks routinely patrol the reefs, while Eagle rays, shoaling barracudas and other pelagics are also commonplace. Occasional encounters with Silkys, Oceanic White Tips, Silvertips, Hammerheads, Marbled, Cowtail and Mobula rays add to the excitement for shark and ray enthusiasts, while for macro photographers there are critters such as Pygmy Seahorses, Squat lobsters and Fiery Dartfish.
Because Munda is comprised of tiny villages with small populations and minimal runoff, our reefs are in pristine condition with lush hard and soft corals and gigantic sea fans. Snorkelers will also appreciate the extensive intact hard coral gardens in the shallows. In addition to the fantastic reefs and abundant marine life, Munda’s seabed is littered with wrecks from WWII that have evolved into gorgeous artificial reefs, with fighter planes, bombers, a Japanese Freighter and a US dump site. Visibility varies from 15 to 40+ meters. Our wet season tends to begin late December and tapers off in March, although we dive all year-round.
