This past week has been very eventful indeed!
Shaken but not stirred, qualified dive guides and Lisa & Paul Go Finis!
On 8 December, 2016 at 7:38PM our beautiful isles were hit by a powerful earthquake (two in two days actually) with standard tsunami warning and it brought home just how quickly things can change and how wonderful and caring our guests and friends from around the globe can be! Luckily the magnitude 7,8 earthquake occurred 178km from Guadalcanal and left Western Province untouched. Our hearts go out to those families who lost property in the remote areas near Makira Province. We are fortunate to report business as usual for us at Dive Munda and on our sister company SIDE liveaboard MV Taka.
We also celebrated a fantastic achievement this week - all 7 of our local SSI Dive Guide Trainees qualified and are ready to welcome you to Magical Munda! The graduation ceremony hosted by AGH and Dive Munda in partnership with SIVB and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was a huge success! Congrats team!
Last but not least, we bid a very fond farewell (for now that is!) to two of our very first guests at Solomon Island Dive Expeditions on MV Solomon Star and great friends. Paul and Lisa, we know you will be missed but we know you will be very successful on your new path and we hope to see you again soon for some hammerheads. We only have fond memories and great stories with you two :-) Thanks for a great weekend trip - go finis with a bang - would not have expected anything less of the two of you. The photo of the week belongs to you two!
