Wrecks are fascinating to most divers, but they are a highly demanding diving environment offering some unique risks as well as huge rewards. The PADI Wreck Diver specialty course teaches divers what those risks are, as well providing techniques to reduce those risks. Over the course of four dives, students learn how to navigate and map a wreck, how to assess potential hazards, and how to use dive lights, safety reels and team-work to carry out a limited penetration of a wreck.
